Efficient drying of seed in boxes with processors for automatically drying to the desired moisture content level. Stacking 3 to 7 boxes high. Using height gives maximum drying volume on minimum floor space; more drying capacity.
Installations & Products
Stacked drying in boxes
Large capacity, minimal footpring
This installation consists of:
- Air distribution system with intake hatches
- Fans
- Conditioning source
- Boxes
- ABC-Processor
We make boxes in many sizes; the content can vary from 1m³ to 3.5m³. This depends on the product.
The boxes with seed are placed in front of the air distribution system. This system is equipped with openings at the front that are at the same height as the box pallets.
The most optimal air condition (outside or inside air) can be drawn in via the intake hatches. Again controlled by the ABC drying processor.
The openings in the front of the air distribution system are sized to the opening of each box pallet. Outside air is drawn in through an opening in the wall at the back.
When the outside air is too humid, inside air is recirculated to maintain optimum drying conditions.
Tailored to your seeds
Boxes specifically designed for drying fine seeds are usually filled up to about 60cm (volume up to 1.5-1.7m³). For coarser seeds and seeds with crops (plants) and for storage, the boxes can be filled higher, up to 120cm. With this double volume of the specific drying boxes, they are also perfect for storage and preservation; up to 3.0-3.7m³ can be stored per box.
For safe and clean drying and storage, the boxes can be equipped with special
mesh lids immediately after filling. This ensures that the seeds are protected
from pests, insects, and birds during drying, and also prevents mixing.
For fine seeds, the corner posts are placed on the outside. This prevents seeds
from getting stuck in the corners. For coarser seeds, these can also be placed on
the inside to maximize volume.

ABC in case of a central heating setup
By programming the equilibrium moisture content of the air, the seed will be dried to the desired moisture content automatically.
For each type of drying installation, Agratechniek has developed unique ABC software. With this software, the equipment is controlled and the desired settings are managed to achieve the desired drying result. The regulation is specifically made for each installation.
On the right an example of a drying installation with 11 sections ‘stacked box drying’ with central heating.
Per section information is visible about the statuses and the measured values.
By clicking on a section on the main page, the control for this section opens. You will see information on the measured values. The activity and status of the equipment is also visible; % control, color and possible movement.
The desired settings page is immediately opened by pressing on different areas.
All types of ABC software are very visual and informative. This makes the configurations understandable and easy to operate.
Control of the heating system by the ABC processor.
Three boilers are connected to each other by means of a cascade control.
As a result, using one boiler, the minimum capacity becomes very low. And by using all boilers, the combined maximum capacity is high; A buffer tank ensures that the water temperature to the radiators is very stable.
The number of active boilers and the capacity is automatically controlled by the ABC; Efficient and energy cost-effective. Sensors monitor the water temperature at various points, as information and also to report when the temperature is too low.
Summary
Maximum drying volume on minimal floor space
For larger quantities of seeds, the principle of drying with stacked boxes is applied. For example, after wet treatment of the seeds or after threshing. Plants are also frequently dried in boxes.
These are often wooden boxes with a mesh bottom. In addition to wood, boxes for a drying system are also available in steel or stainless steel. To prevent seed mixing, the inside of each box is finished. The seeds can also be stored in these boxes.
Conditioned drying is carried out using dried air. Therefore, the boxes are placed in an insulated room.
When drying in a hall, (heated) air from the surroundings is ventilated through the product in the box from below.
Optimal aeration ensures uniform drying. Therefore, an air distribution system is always used.
